I'm looking for a leather conditioner for handbags that's ethical. I'm considering Saphir Crème Universelle but want to know if its lanolin harms sheep. If so, is there another Saphir product that doesn't involve animal harm?
Lanoline is a natural ingredient widely used in the cosmetics industry for its nourishing and moisturizing properties.
It is extracted from sheep’s wool through a process that coincides with shearing. Shearing is essential for the health and well-being of sheep, as it prevents overheating and other health issues.
After the wool is cut, it undergoes a refining process to extract a waxy substance called lanoline, which is the natural fat found on the wool. This fat serves to protect and condition the sheep’s skin and is highly valued for its ability to hydrate and soften human skin. Lanoline is a key component in our cream, contributing to its effectiveness and quality.
